Current projects
I am working as Project Consultant for Strong Schools, Strong Communities and Parents and Teachers Working Together for the Northern Territory Council of Government School Organisations.
Both projects aim to empower Aboriginal parents in remote communities to become more involved in their children’s education through:
- understanding how school councils work
- working with teachers.
And I’ve just finished editing a Desert Knowledge CRC research report on pastoral support programs for Aboriginal people in the NT and the Kimberley.
Recent projects
- Editor, Indigenous Ecological Knowledge: A Scoping Study, prepared by the Northern Australian Indigenous Land and Sea Managers’ Alliance for the Natural Resource Management Board of the Northern Territory
- Writing Plain English content for the website of the National Accelerated Literacy Program (www.nalp.edu.au) and other promotional material for the program
- Mentor/writer for Workplace English Language and Literacy kits for Aboriginal Environmental Health Workers and for Board Members of Indigenous organisations and councils, for the Human Services Training Advisory Council of the Northern Territory
- Researcher/writer on Desert Knowledge for Desert People: A Scoping Project on Aboriginal Traditional Knowledge for the Desert Knowledge Cooperative Research Centre, with specific responsibility for designing and writing the engagement and awareness strategy for working with desert Aboriginal communities
